B-Reversing / Momentum Shifting:
Amazing option for every character and Zelda is no exception. To do this tech simply use a special attack and immediately press the opposite direction to shift any momentum your character has to that direction. This works best directly after a jump or after being hit. B-reversing is great for spacing attacks or faking an escape to bait in opponents but it can also be used to dodge attacks in the air. Nayru's Love, Din's Fire, and Phantom Slash are all B-reversable.

How to perform: Video 1
While jumping or after any action that gives you momentum, perform a special attack and immedietly press the control stick in the opposite direction you are traveling to reverse your momentum to the pressed direction. C-Stick B-Reversing: Video 2 By setting your C-stick to specials you gain unique control options that are very difficult or not even possible otherwise. C-stick specials have a unique effect on Zelda only due to how her specials work. While other characters can set their C-stick to specials and gain the ease of B-reversing, they cannot mimic the unique movement options that Zelda gains with Din's Fire and Phantom Slash. |
Teleport Canceling:
Farore's Wind can be ledge canceled. This allows you to teleport to the edge of a stage/platform and instantly cancel all ending frames and act immediately. This is a strong but dangerous tech that can easily cost you a stock if you misplace your teleport. When used correctly, this not only gives you a fast way to get to opponents offstage, it also gives you a great retreating option for spacing and a flashy option to move around stages. On most stages the sweet spot to ledge cancel is a step or two past middle stage. This works on stage, in the air and on shortened Farore's Wind but all have different distances to sweet spot.

Simply aim for the edge of the stage. If done correctly you should slide off the edge and be able to act immediately. Note where Zelda is standing in the video to give you a general idea of where you need to be to perform this tech. How to practice: Video 2 Battlefield offers a great practice ground to get a grasp on the distance and uses of this technique. This video will show an easy way to practice your teleport cancels and hopefully get you to a point where you can use this technique in matches! |
Pivoting and Shield Boost Grabs:
This is a simple but effective tech that allows you to change directions during a dash. This can be used to pivot a grab, forward tilt, or even a forward smash! Pivoting can be an extremely useful tool in spacing since it allows you to move away from the opponent while doing an attack at the same time. Shield boost grabbing is also very simple to perform. While running, simply press the shield and grab buttons at the same time to get a slight boost in your grab range.

How to perform:
This tech is very easy to perform, simply run in a direction and then turn your control stick in the opposite direction to perform a pivot animation. During this animation you can either grab, perform a forward tilt, or use the c-stick to input a forward smash! The timing for grabs and smashes are pretty specific but forward tilts are very easy to pivot. |
Squall Boosting:
Farore's Squall is an extremely effective custom in teams. By using the push effect you can extend your partners attack range and catch opponents by surprise. You can freely use it on your partner since this is a non damaging attack also. Farore's Squall basically allows you to mimic DACUS for most of your partners attacks.

Potential Uses:
This move seems almost useless at first compared to the default Farore's Wind. However, I feel this move has a lot of hidden potential in teams. By using the windboxes you can achieve a lot of interesting effects that not only benefit your partner, but can also gimp opponents offstage and even block incomming attacks! |
Squall Cancel:
Farore's Squall has a frame 1 wind box that allows Zelda to break out of almost any multi-hit attack in the game. By using this wind box you can push opponents away and escape their attack. If you are hit in the process you can also cancel Farore's Squall into other attacks such as a phantom to punish the opponents while they are in ending lag.

Potential Uses:
If you can DI and buffer Farore's Squall correctly you can escape almost any combo. This is a great option to have since Zelda can get overwhelmed up close pretty easily. Since Farore's Squall has an active wind box on real frame 1 it will push opponents away before their hit cancels the move. This not only allows you to instantly break out of combos, you can also buffer a second attack for when Farore's Squall gets interrupted! |
Din Cancel:
By canceling the animation of Din's Fire, Din's Blaze, or Din's Flare mid use you can use more than one of them at a time to attack with! The maximum amount that can explode at the same time is 3. Any more than that will cause the first to disappear. However, you can have as many as 4-5 on the stage as long as they are all exploding at different times.

Potential Uses:
By interupting your Din attack on purpose you can barrage opponents with multiple Dins at the same time. However, it's important to know that you lose control of your projectile when canceling it. Any sort of damage (except for things like fox lazers) or action that causes you to bounce will cancel a Din attack for you. |
